Introduction
The Universal Education for Values Initiative is a collaborative effort of the Global Peace Initiative of Women and the Ethics Initiative Consortium (EIC), an evolving "Transinstitution" composed of a network alliance between international institutions, non governmental organizations, educational institutions, governments, religious and spiritual leaders, media and corporations. Developed out of a partnership between the GPIW, the Global Ethics Resource Center, Touro College, the American Council for the United Nations University, the Institute for Multi Track Diplomacy, and additional partners on individual initiatives, the EIC aims to advance the achievement of peace, education for peace, tolerance, global ethics and social justice, the protection of children and the environment and the promotion of ethics in all walks of life.
This initiative is a follow up outcome of the Education and Parenting for Peace and Global Ethics conference held by the EIC at the United Nations Headquarters on February 12, 2004 with the sponsorship of UNESCO.
