Recently HH the Dalai Lama was honored with the Presidential Distinguished Professorship award at Emory University and participated in a weekend of events in his honor. Sister Joan Chittister, Co-Chair of the Global Peace Initiative of Women, was one of the four respondents to the Dalai Lama at the First Emory Summit on Religion, Conflict, and Peacebuilding. Following her response to the Dalai Lama’s address at Emory University, in Atlanta on Sunday, Oct. 21, Sister Joan received a long standing ovation from the standing-room only crowd of 4800 people who had gathered.
