Providing Global Leadership for Young Peace Builders

“Young people initiating local solutions to local problems.”

The role of civil society is critical in preventing, transforming and healing conflict. All citizens must assume responsibility when communities disintegrate into war, and they must actively work for the rebuilding of their societies.

No group has more at stake than young people. They are often the ones called to take up weapons, and they can be the ones to disown past prejudices and ills, bringing new visions of unity. The mobilization of young people around peacebuilding efforts is a critical necessity and is perhaps the most effective means to reduce violence.
