GPIW continues a series of Zoom conversations with some of our inspired teachers and friends. Next week, we will share a talk in Italian (with English translation) on the Divine Feminine. The talk will be presented by a longtime friend of GPIW, Rev. Doju D. Freire

Rev. Doju D. Freire è monaca buddhista Zen Soto, danzatrice, educatrice e autrice. Nata in Brasile, è stata ordinata in Francia nel 1998, discepola del Rev. Yuno Roland Rech. In Italia sin dal 1974, ha sviluppato negli anni dei programmi educativi sulla meditazione per bambini e adulti, come "Spazio al Silenzio" che educa insegnanti e studenti alle inestimabili capacità di ascolto, silenzio e meditazione. Da oltre quarant’anni guida seminari aperti di Danza libera sulla sua ricerca artistico-spirituale, "La Danza Madre", come un modo per connettersi al più profondo simbolo del Femminile ancestrale. Insegna meditazione in Piemonte presso il Dojo Zen Sanrin a Fossano e sovrintende ai programmi del Global Peace Initiative of Women-GPIW in Italia nonché a molti altri programmi correlati che riuniscono persone di diverse tradizioni spirituali.

L'intenzione della Rev. Doju nella sua ricerca è di sostenere le persone mentre scoprono la saggezza interiore e il potere che ci porta spontaneamente in connessione con la natura, così pure come quello sperimentato attraverso il contatto con l’antica Grande Madre. Insegna che questa ancestrale connessione è viva nelle nostre cellule oggi, viva nel nostro sangue e attraverso i nostri sensi, proprio come era ugualmente viva nei nostri antenati primordiali. Insegna anche che ciò che noi esseri umani necessitiamo oggi è sia il recuperare il lontano ricordo del nostro legame con la Antica Madre e sia rassicurarci riguardo al fatto che possiamo tuttora percepire ed ascoltare ancora, Lei, ad ogni momento. Anche se la maggior parte di noi non vive più in tribù o in comunione con i paesaggi selvaggi, esperienze mistiche hanno mostrato a Doju che in questo preciso momento abbiamo comunque accesso alla Antica Grande Madre. Lei, la nostra Madre più anziana, è viva nei nostri corpi. Doju insegna che possiamo ancora sentire la Grande Madre parlare, mostrarci il cammino e sostenerci nella nostra vita quotidiana. Dice: "La vita che ci è madre, si prende cura di noi nello stesso modo in cui si è presa cura dei nostri antenati". La ricerca artistica e spirituale di Doju mostra che se possiamo accedere in noi stessi, senza paura, a quel vasto e libero spazio interiore che riflette la natura incontaminata, toccheremo la radice della Grande Antica e la incarneremo spontaneamente nel nostro cuore-mente. È in questo luogo interiore che arriviamo a realizzare la natura inclusiva del Femminile ancestrale che ama, abbraccia e rispetta tutti gli esseri e va oltre le dualità (Maschile / Femminile, Madre / Padre, Divino / Profano), permettendoci così di vedere il Sacro in ogni aspetto della vita.

Il 16 aprile 2021, Doju ci introdurrà a quella sensazione di vastità e di significato profondo che il Femminile Divino evoca. Condividerà una breve sintesi storica di ciò che lei chiama "Femminile ancestrale", indicherà antichi simboli del Femminili per mostrarci come i nostri antenati comprendessero intuitivamente l'importanza delle qualità interiori in noi del Femminili essenziali manifestate nella Natura, e come il Femminile Sacro fosse onorato nella nostra specie umana per decine di migliaia di anni attraverso l'arte preistorica, rituali, miti, ecc. Osservando il nostro antico passato, vedremo che questa saggezza è tuttora disponibile per noi nel mondo odierno e che possiamo rigenerare quella profonda connessione con il Femminile Ancestrale e Madre Terra.

An Online Event with Rev. Doju D. Freire

Please join GPIW on April 16th for a special dialogue on the Divine Feminine with our long-time friend, Rev. Doju D. Freire.

Rev. Doju D. Freire is a Zen Soto Buddhist nun, dancer, educator and author. She was born in Brazil and ordained in France in 1998 as a disciple of Rev. Yuno Roland Rech. In addition to overseeing GPIW programs in Italy, Doju has been involved in several other initiatives which bring together people from diverse spiritual backgrounds. She has developed educational programs on sitting meditation for children and adults, including a program called 'Place for Silence' which works with teachers and students to develop the invaluable skills of listening, silence and meditation. For the last 40 years, she has held dance seminars called 'The Mother Dance' , a spiritual and artistic exploration of the Feminine. Currently, she teaches meditation at Dojo Zen Sanrin community in Fossano, Italy.

Even though most of us no longer live in tribes or are in direct communion with the land, Doju’s inner experience has shown her that we still have access to the ancient Great Mother in this very moment -- and She is alive in our bodies. We can still hear the Great Mother speaking to us, showing us the way, and holding us in our daily lives. 'The Mother of all Life is caring for us in the same way She cared for our ancestors.” Doju’s artistic and spiritual research shows that if we can access, without fear, the vast and free inner space of the wild, we will organically touch the Great Mother’s root and naturally embody this in our hearts and minds. It is in this place where we come to realize the inclusive nature of the ancestral Feminine that loves, embraces and respects all beings and goes beyond any dualities (Masculine/Feminine, Mother/Father, Divine/Secular), thus allowing us to see the sacred in all of Life.

On April 16, Doju will introduce us to the vast and deeper meaning that the Divine Feminine evokes. She will share a brief historical synthesis of the “Ancestral Feminine.” She will use this synthesis of ancient symbols to show us how our ancestors intuitively understood the importance of the Feminine qualities manifested in Nature, and how the Sacred Feminine was honored by humankind for tens of thousands of years through art, rituals, and myth.

In looking at our ancient past, we will see how this wisdom is available to us now in our modern world, and we will look at the ways that we can regenerate that deep connection to the Ancestral Feminine and to Mother Earth.
