Tuesday, December 21, 2021

Every single girl must be educated in Afghanistan - that is my dream. I don’t have a small dream. My vision is big, has been big and is going to remain big. I think that there is going to be a day that this country will rise up, and I am looking for that day. -Dr. Sakena Yacoobi

A Live Conversation with Afghan Woman Leader,
Dr. Sakena Yacoobi

Please join us for a conversation with Dr. Sakena Yacoobi, President and Executive Dir. of the Sakena Fund (formerly Creating Hope International) and the Afghan Institute of Learning. Sakena has been a longtime friend to GPIW and in all the years we have known her she has worked courageously to benefit women and children in Afghanistan through her learning centers and women’s health clinics. As many know, Afghanistan is now in the midst of a grave humanitarian crisis involving 23 million people.

Our live conversation with Sakena takes place on the Winter Solstice, Tue. Dec. 21st at 2:00PM EST and will offer us a firsthand account on the current situation informed by on the ground reports from her nearly 1200 staff members working throughout the country. Her 300 learning centers are open and each directly assist 1000-1500 individuals. We will have a chance to ask questions and understand more and learn how we can offer practical support for her work that directly touches and brings help to people in great need at this time.
