Right Livelihood: Moving Toward a Regenerative Economy
An Exploration with Charles Eisenstein, author and speaker and Shashank Kalra and Vibhuti Aggarwal of the India Youth Alliance. As a human society we have reached the limits of our current extractive economic model - where livelihoods are only going to further harm people and life on the planet. And added to that, more and more people are not feeling aligned spiritually nor emotionally with careers focused on material excess. It is asking of us to open a new window into a different paradigm of 'Work' - a regenerative approach to livelihoods that heals the people, communities, and the planet. However, this does not come easy, as most money is in extraction.
This first conversation of a series called us to ask deeper questions, exactly what is "right" - that implies there are wrong livelihoods and we have already created a separation. What inner qualities do we need to cultivate in order to step out of the current paradigm that is not in alignment with many young people? How do we develop trust in life again, develop confidence, trust in our own knowing and seeing our true self? "Courage is contagious" and young leaders shared personal accounts and posed moving questions in this session. I know who I am and I know why I am here. Our true work is bigger than our livelihood and learning to trust our body knowledge of 'what to do right now' is key, then when an opportunity comes we will be ready to act. This was a profound conversation.
